Quadrature Bandpass Isotropic Filters for Urban Zones Segmentation in Satellite Imagery

چکیده

This article introduces a new and effective method for urban zone segmentation in satellite imagery. The proposed method consists in filtering a band of the multi-spectral image (from the SPOT satellite) with a quadrature bandpass isotropic filter. The filter bandwith and tuning frequency are determined from the source images by a simple experimental analysis. The final image can be obtained by low-pass filtering the quadrature filter's output, or by a Bayesian method using a Hidden Markov Measure Field Model. Our experiments in SPOT imagery at 10 meters resolution, report classification errors of around 5%. Sea zones containing similar features to those found in urban areas are removed by a neural network. * [email protected]; phone: +52 (473) 732 71 55; fax: +52 (473) 732 57 49.

Multiscale Geoscene Segmentation for Extracting Urban Functional Zones from VHR Satellite Images

Urban functional zones, such as commercial, residential, and industrial zones, are basic units of urban planning, and play an important role in monitoring urbanization. However, historical functional-zone maps are rarely available for cities in developing countries, as traditional urban investigations focus on geographic objects rather than functional zones. Recent studies have sought to extrac...

Comparing the Capability of Sentinel 2 and Landsat 8 Satellite Imagery in Land Use and Land Cover Mapping Using Pixel-based and Object-based Classification Methods

Introduction: Having accurate and up-to-date information on the status of land use and land cover change is a key point to protecting natural resources, sustainable agriculture management and urban development. Preparing the land cover and land use maps with traditional methods is usually time and cost consuming. Nowadays satellite imagery provides the possibility to prepare these maps in less ...

The Multidimensional Isotropic Generalization of Quadrature Filters in Geometric Algebra

In signal processing, the approach of the analytic signal is a capable and often used method. For signals of finite length, quadrature filters yield a bandpass filtered approximation of the analytic signal. In the case of multidimensional signals, the quadrature filters can only be applied with respect to a preference direction. Therefore, the orientation has to be sampled, steered or orientati...
